Meet JohnI’m seeking a seat on Council because I believe my municipal experience, local knowledge and commitment to public service can make a meaningful contribution to our township. I will listen carefully, work respectfully with residents and colleagues, and bring a practical perspective to the decisions ahead.
These issues call for clear information, responsible spending and open dialogue with residents.
Manage taxes and spending responsibly, and make sure residents receive good value from municipal decisions.
Make thoughtful decisions about the new Town Hall and address septage management with a long-term view.
Respect lawful property and access rights while seeking fair, practical solutions to difficult waterfront questions.
Read my approach →Waterfront rights are a complex and emotional issue in Tiny. Property law, historical subdivision planning, public access and long-held expectations all matter. We need to clarify the facts and seek negotiated solutions wherever possible.
My approach is to respect lawful property rights and existing legal access rights, promote responsible waterfront use, and improve the quality and availability of Township waterfront assets.
We can work toward fair, sustainable solutions by listening to everyone affected.
My family and I made our seasonal cottage in Tiny our permanent home in 2016. Raised on a family farm in Whitby, I learned the value of hard work, community and responsible stewardship of the land.
I’m a landscape architect with a diploma from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and a degree from the University of Toronto. I have more than 35 years of municipal management experience, including work in Vaughan, Barrie, Milton and Orillia, and I have served as a Tiny Township Councillor.

I’ve worked with volunteers on the design, construction and ongoing care of the Sandy Cornell Garden of Hope at the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre in Penetanguishene.
While working for the City of Orillia, I helped with the placement of a sculpture honouring Gordon Lightfoot and his lasting connection to the community.
I support off-leash dog parks throughout Tiny: safe places for dogs to play and neighbours to meet and build community.
Also involved in: Member of the Tiny Township Parks and Recreation Committee and Tiny Township Heritage Committee; Salvation Army Christmas Kettles; and Snow Angels.
I will make decisions based on sound information, work respectfully with Council, staff and residents, and keep taxpayers’ interests in view. Together, we can preserve what makes Tiny special while planning responsibly for its future.
